The military received three New People’s Army combatants who surrendered over the weekend in Davao del Norte.
The surrenderees were identified as alias Arvin/Isak, 45 years old; Romo, 30 years old; and Joa, 38, who were all from Pulang Bagani Command 1 of the Southern Regional Committee 5, Southern Regional Command.
The three turned themselves in at the Army’s 16 Infantry Battalion headquarters in Barangay Dalisay, Davao del Notre on Sunday.
Their surrender was through the joint effort of the local executives of Brgy. Lumiad, Paquibato District, Davao City, Brgy. Magsaysay, Carmen, Davao Del Norte, and the Davao City PEACE 911.
The three claims that their surrender was fueled by their dissatisfaction with the corruption other leaders. They also claimed that they were sexually abused.
War materials, a CAP2 anti-personnel landmine (IED), a cal. 38 revolver and 400 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.
“The surrender of alias Omar and the two others showed the real situation within NPA organization,” Major General Noel S. Clement said.
“We thank the local chief executives in leading the anti-insurgency in their community by encouraging NPAs to surrender. The 10th ID troopers will continue to accept NPAs who want to surrender and live a peaceful life,” Clement added.
