19th Infantry (Commando) Battalion issued another call against NPA use of minors in light of the latest casualty, Raymart Omandac Bayaca a 16-year-old boy who was wounded during an NPA attack on a PNP Checkpoint last September 16, 2019 at around 7 o’clock in the morning along Antipas Elementary School, Brgy. Poblacion, Antipas, Cotabato.
Based on the police report, Antipas MPS personnel flagged down a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle speeding towards them coming from Arakan Municipality. Upon reaching their location, the back rider drew a short firearm from his waist and the motorcycle accelerated. The police chased the suspect and conducted hot pursuit operation. Whilst the suspect fired upon the PNP personnel onboard hitting their Mahindra Patrol Car in the windshield. Running gun battle ensued that prompted the suspect to abandon the motorcycle beside the road of Sitio Panipasan, Brgy. Kiyaab of same municipality. Continued hot pursuit operations resulted to the arrest of the driver with gunshot wound on his right shoulder. Said suspect was immediately brought to Antipas Medical Specialist Hospital.
Troops from 19th IB responded to the incident and found out from their initial investigation that the caught suspect was a member of the Special PArtisan Unit (SPARU) of CPP-NPA-NDF. They are the ones doing the liquidation and extortion activities of the said communist terrorist group in the area.
They referred the suspect to Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City. Currently he is recovering from the ICU and will be transferring him in the medical ward once his condition continuously improves.
LTC Benjamin A. Dao-on INF (GSC) PA, the commanding officer of 19th Infantry Battalion condemns the Communist Terrorist Groups for the exploitation of minors in carrying out their violent and terroristic activities. Also, he added that parents and teachers should unite in protecting their children against leftist ideologies so as not to be deceived and recruited.
