Twenty three (23) Militia Ng Bayan Members (the NPA Territorial Forces) took their oath of allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines at Brgy Antipolo, Asipulo, Ifugao on the 11:00 in the morning of 23 November 2018.

The mass surrender and oath-taking ceremony of the MBs was inspired by the Community Support Program (CSP) of the Army troops in their barangays and the successful outcome of the Combat and Rescue Operations conducted by the 54th Infantry Battalion which resulted to the capture turned rescue of two NPA regular members (Ka Cindy and Ka Iyong) and the surrender of another two NPA personalities. The successful focused military operation further resulted to the recovery of seven (7) high powered firearms including one K3 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), five (5) Claymore Mines, Grenades and other numerous equipment.

According to the MBs, they were inspired to totally come out knowing that the NPAs in their area are already becoming weak and that they already want to live a peaceful life and fully support the government instead.

During the ceremony, Ka Iyong, one of the captured regular NPA member turned surrenderer in the recent encounter, he emotionally delivered his message before the crowd and to the former Militia ng Bayan members “WAG KAYONG MAGPAPALINLANG SA MGA NPA! GUTOM, HIRAP, SAKIT HANGGANG SA IKAMATAY MO PA! PARA SA ISANG LAYUNIN NA PURO KATHANG ISIP LAMANG!”, he accentuated.

The entire activity was facilitated by the joint efforts of the Philippine Army, PNP, PLGAs of Ifugao and MLGU of Asipulo, Ifugao.

LTC NARCISO B NABULNEG JR, Commander 54th IB also appealed to the remaining Militia ng Bayan members who are still in doubt to surface and still supporting the CNTs, “Remember! You are not helping the NPA members instead you are tolerating and ruining the future of the youths as most of the recruited NPAs are students, bear in mind that they were just used and was deceived by the top brass leaders of the CNTs. Let’s work hand-in-hand and rescue them from the manipulative hands of the CNTs. To the Magilas troopers and partner stakeholders for peace and development, let us continue inspiring others for peace is at hand, LTC NABULNEG added.
