31 former rebels received livelihood starter kits

The 16th Infantry (MAGLILINGKOD) Battalion, 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, Philippine Army together with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – XI and Local Government Unit of Davao City facilitated the Distribution of Livelihood package entitled: “Awarding of Starter Kits of DTI Livelihood Seeding Program for Former Rebels” held at Brgy Hall, Brgy Lamanan, Calinan District, Davao City on November 7, 2018.

The activity was realized to uplift the living condition of our Former Rebels and it is also part of their reintegration program to the mainstream society. The activity was spearheaded by Engr. Edwin O. Banquerigo, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – XI, Local Government Unit of Davao City through PEACE 911 and the 16th Infantry (MAGLILINGKOD) Battalion headed by LTC REY P PASCO INF (GSC) PA.

Thirty-one (31) Former Rebels (FRs) in Paquibato and Calinan District, both of Davao City benefited on the aforesaid activity. The livelihood package includes Grocery items, One (1) pair of Hogs, and Cacao and Lanzones Seedling with sprayer and fertilizer.

“Peace is not our goal, peace is what we need to achieve our goal of a Happy and Prosperous life. Peace is in our heart and cannot be found anywhere. As peace dwells on all of us, surely there will be prosperity for everyone”. Engr. Banquerigo said in his message.

“The collaborative effort of all concerned government agencies paved the way for the opening of opportunities for the constituents in conflict affected areas. The government is helping our former rebels and MB’s to help themselves for the benefit of not only for their families but also for their communities ” ,LTC REY P PASCO said in his message.

The active collaborations of the Department of Trade and Industry, Local Government Unit of Davao City, 16th Infantry (MAGLILINGKOD) Battalion and other stakeholders shows a strong partnership of different government agencies to have a lasting peace and development in Davao City “,LTC REY P PASCO further said.
