Two (2) Communist Party of the Philippines – New Peoples’ Army terrorists (CNTs) of Guerilla Front Committee 14 (GFC14) voluntary surrender to 75th Infantry MARAUDER Battalion (75IB) at Brgy Sto Niño, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur at 12:00PM, Saturday, November 03, 2018.
One of the surrenderee was identified as Alias Undoy, 21 years old, single and a resident of Brgy Mahaba, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. He joined the NPA terrorist since February 09, 2011. According to him, he surrendered because of his family that encouraged him to go down from the mountain.
The other was identified as Alias Ricky, 34 years old, married, and a resident of Brgy Doña Carmen, Tagbina, Surigao Del Sur. He became a member of the NPA terrorist since September 2015. His desire to live a normal life with his family was the main reason why he decided to surrender.
Alias Undoy and Alias Ricky brought along with them one (1) US GL 40mm M79 rifle and (1) Homemade 357 magnum pistol with ammunitions.
“These former NPA terrorists will be assisted by our troops in their enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP). Where Alias Undoy and Alias Ricky will be able to be with their families and start a new life away from chaos, hunger and fear of losing their lives in an encounter with our troops in the mountains.” Lieutenant Colonel Jaime R Datuin, Commanding Officer of 75IB.
E-CLIP includes the following benefits for former NPA terrorist that surrenders: P15,000.00 as immediate cash assistance; P50,000.00 as livelihood assistance; and a certain amount for firearms remuneration depending on the type and the serviceability if surrenderees bring along their firearms.
Brigadier General Andres Centino, 401st Infantry Brigade Commander said that, it is high time for the NPA terrorists who are still in the mountains to think and consider laying down their arms and be with their families especially that Christmas season is fast approaching.
