Over 1,000 Lumads and Tribal Leaders unifying for Anti-NPA rally

About 1,000 Indigenous People conducted peace rally led by various Tribal Leaders in different part of Caraga Region at the Libertad Sports Complex to Guingona Park Butuan City to expressed their support to the government.

PCSUPT GILBERTO DC CRUZ, Regional Director of PRO13, said that the Indigenous people composed mainly of Manobo, Mamanwa, and Higaonon tribes from Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and other tribal groups gathered today to show the community that they strongly expressed support to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration and condemned the ruthless acts of the CPP-NPA-NDF.

Higaonon IP Representative of Agusan del Norte Datu Bawang Eddie Sulhayan Ampiyawan; Tribal Chieftains Welcie Sulhayan and Ricardo Sulhayan of Minbahandi, Nasipit; and lumad leaders who were present during the said rally to support the other lumad members. They stood up mustering their courage so that their voices will be heard by the public against the CNTs. Said activity was in line with the International Human Rights Day.

“Tatay Boom,” a former officer of the Guerilla Front 21 NEMRC of NPA, recognized the effort of the government in ensuring that the programs and services are being delivered to the grassroots benefitting IPs. He also stressed that the NPAs are not only causing chaos in the communities but also destroying the minds and the future of the young IPs with their unrightful advocacy against the government.”

“Now, the people were enlightened of who are the real ‘berdugo’ and oppressor of the Filipino people” RD CRUZ disclosed.
