Police arrest scalpers in UAAP Championship game

For Violation of City Ordinance 192 (Anti scalping), the Pasay police arrested 9 suspects in the act of violating said ordinance in the vicinity of the Mall of Asia Arena, during last Saturday’s UAAP basketball game, the first of a 3-game championship series between Ateneo de Manila University & University of the Philippines.

The crackdown on scalpers was implemented by PSSUP. NOEL FLORES, Chief, Pasay City Police, per directive of NCRPO Director GUILLERMO ELEAZAR & the instructions of Southern Police District head, PSSUP. ELISEO CRUZ.

NCRPO DIRECTOR Gen. Eleazar said, “Most of the people who will attend the games are students. It’s such a pity if students will have to pay 10 to 20 times the ticket value to watch, considering they live on measly allowances.” Eleazar added,”We will arrest scalpers anywhere this series goes. We may even get the masterminds. So I am warning these opportunists, these syndicates, stop because we will get you.”

Arrested were ALFREDO MOLINA of Pasay City; MICHAEL DIÑO of San Pedro Laguna; JHON RANDELL GUISON of Leveriza St., Manila; EDGARDO LACAP IV of Pasay City, ANTONIO BORJA, Pasay City; ALEX VIÑAS, Parañaque City, REX PERAL,barangay tanod of Pasay City; BILLY JON ALTURAS, Singalong St. Manila; ALBERTO MANARANG, of Caloocan City.

SPD Director PSSUP Eliseo Cruz also warned ” that we will continue to crack down on these scalpers. Even our foreign embassy guests are looking for tickets and it’s a shame that they cant get tickets because syndicates have cornered the tickets so they can sell at higher prices.” PSSUP. Noel Flores, Pasay City chief added, ” Let this be a lesson to the scalping syndicate. Stop. Let the tickets be sold freely in the open market.” The suspects were arrested by elements of MOA PCP 11.
