Tourist police in PH surfing capital receive patrol bikes

Tourist police assigned to the “most favorite hub of world surfers” received 10 patrol bikes during the launching of “Juan Effect” program held in General Luna, Siargao on Friday, January 11, 2019.

The patrol bikes were donated by the local government of Surigao del Norte through the initiative of Congressman Francisco ‘Bingo’ Matugas II of the 1st District.

Chief Superintendent Gilberto DC Cruz, Philippine National Police (PNP)-Caraga regional director, said the new mobility assets will eventually beef up patrol operations and police visibility to ensure the safety and security of tourists.

“Let us always join hand in hand to maintain peace and order and to show to the international community that our tourist destinations remain a safe haven for the visitors,” CSupt. Cruz said.

It can be recalled that in 2018, simulation exercises were conducted by the police, line government agencies including the local government unit to ensure readiness in case any untoward incidents will occur in Siargao Island. (PRO-13/VLG/PIA-Caraga)
