PNP Caraga gives aid for the decent burial of NPA fighters

Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 has extended assistance to the family and relatives of two New People’s Army (NPA) members who were killed in a clash with the government troops in the hinterland of Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

Chief Supt Gilberto Cruz, PRO13 director, personally visited and met the family of Randyl Gallego and Emel Tejero at the police station in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur to arrange the burial today, January 30.

Pending for their identification, the remains of Gallego and Tejero were turned-over earlier by the Philippine Army to San Agustin Municipal Police Station on January 29, 2019 after they were abandoned by their comrades in the mountainous area of Brgy. Diatagon.

Due to intelligence gathering and coordination with the stakeholders, the information has reached the family and relatives through the PNP.

Police personnel provided the caskets and prepared the graves through the support of the local government unit of San Agustin town.

When the family opted to bring with them the coffins, the police also helped in transporting the human remains back to their homes.

Chief Supt Cruz stressed out that although they died for a lost cause, they deserve to be given decent burial.

He is also calling all the members of the NPA to be awakened that there is no brotherhood in the armed struggle and they may suffer the same fate with that of their dead comrades.
